I have an amazing opportunity at the upcoming #ORShow to contribute as a liaison with the U.S. Forest Service… their program called ‘It’s All Yours‘ is a public service program that invites all Americans to ‘Go, Play’ in nature close to our large metropolitan areas; our National Forests. In cooperation with the National Forest Foundation and Choose Outdoors, we aim to get more organizations in the outdoor recreation ecosystem of organizations informed, involved and on board.

Denver, Colorado — Jul 24, 2015Increasing support for recreation on our National Forests will be the focus of the US Forest Service’s Director of Recreation, Joe Meade’s visit to OR this summer.
Director Meade is working with Choose Outdoors President Bruce Ward and consultant, Kenji Haroutunian to build relationships with the Outdoor Industry on many levels.
According to Director Meade, ” We realize and value the importance of working more closely with the private sector to achieve areas of mutual interest in “Caring for the land and serving the people” for the greatest good.
Ward, who spent fifteen years building the Continental Divide Trail, formed Choose Outdoors in 2008 with a mission of “Connecting to our public lands thru outdoor recreation.”
“Working with the US Forest Service on recreation issues for over 20 years has been an honor. Now more than ever we need to support the recreation mission of the agency. We are facing a perfect storm of budget cuts, competing priorities, wildfires and unprecedented insect infestations, not to mention nature deficit disorder.”
